The learning community includes two classes – US History to 1877, taught by Steve Voguit and Visual Culture, taught by Laura Mongiovi. Our research librarian is Katherine Owens. The assignment is an integrated project entitled Silhouette Narrative.
Classes visit St. Augustine landmarks

Professors Laura Mongiovi and Steve Voguit took their learning community classes to the Lightner Museum and on a walking tour of St. Augustine.
The classes most recently visited Jacksonville’s Cummer Museum on Oct. 6. Check back soon for pictures from that trip.
‘The Power to Change Our World’ photos are online

For their final projects of the fall 2008 semester, the Ignite students presented “The Power to Change Our World: A Call to Action.” This campus event required students to creatively and effectively present an issue of social importance to the public. Topics ranged from homelessness to funding for arts education.
Students spend election night at Fox/CBS studios

A small group of sophomores and Ignite freshmen watched the presidential election night returns at the local Fox/CBS news studios in Jacksonville.

With the presidential election less than a week away, the Ignite learning communities displayed their campaign video ads for “Engaging Power” in the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum.
Students debate at 2008 Presidential Forum

At a recent Presidential Forum in Flagler College’s student center, the Ignite students and faculty debated the merits and flaws of candidates Barack Obama and John McCain.

Learning Community Orientation

The Ignite students and faculty gathered for the first time for pizza, free t-shirts and an introduction to the learning communities concept. Students were also divided into teams for their first group project, which will be producing a campaign advertisement.
